Texas is the easiest state on this list to reach and the one where I ask the most questions before I say yes. Getting your puppy to you is not the problem here: four cities have a nonstop and the far west of the state is a drive. A Houston August is the problem, and I would rather we talked about that first than after you have fallen for a photograph.
Texas sends me more enquiries than any state except my own. Phoenix has nonstop flights to Dallas Fort Worth, Houston, Austin and San Antonio, all around two hours, and El Paso is close enough to Sedona that people drive it in a long day on the I-10.

How your puppy travels to Texas
Most Texas buyers fly into Phoenix in the morning and fly home the same day with the puppy in a soft carrier under the seat. Two hours in the cabin is nothing to an 8lb puppy that has been held all morning; it sleeps. If you would rather I handled the travel, a flight nanny takes the same nonstop and hands the puppy to you at arrivals. West Texas buyers sometimes drive: El Paso to Sedona is about six and a half hours and the route is dry desert the whole way, so in summer that drive happens early or not at all.

Getting a puppy to Dallas, Houston, Austin and the rest of Texas
Dallas and Fort Worth share DFW, and Houston, Austin and San Antonio each have a nonstop of their own, all about two hours. That is most of the state covered in a single hop. El Paso is the exception and the interesting one, because it is a great deal closer to me than it is to Houston: about six and a half hours on the I-10, which west Texas families often just drive.
Keeping a Shih Tzu in Texas
The thing I would tell any Texan before they took one of my puppies home is that Houston and Phoenix are both hot, and only one of them is easy on a Shih Tzu. Humidity is the problem for a flat-faced dog, because panting does not work when the air is already wet. Gulf coast summers mean short walks, air conditioning, and a dog that lives indoors from June to September. Dallas, Austin and San Antonio are drier and a little kinder. The Panhandle is genuinely fine.
