From Sedona, Arizona to New York
Shih Tzu Puppies for Sale in New York
Purebred Shih Tzu puppies from our family home in Sedona, Arizona, and how families in New York bring one home: ground transport to your door, a flight nanny, or a meetup in Arizona.
I am in Sedona, Arizona, not in New York, and we say so up front. Distance has never stopped a family bringing one of our puppies home. New York is the biggest Shih Tzu market in the country by a distance, and for good reason: this is a breed made for an apartment. Phoenix flies nonstop to JFK, Newark and LaGuardia in about five hours, and I have found New Yorkers are the least bothered of anyone by the idea of flying in for a dog.
Getting a puppy to New York
- Ground transport to your door. A transporter collects your puppy from us and drives it to you in New York, in a carrier, fed and watered on the way, and hands it to you in person.
- Flight nanny. About 5 hours from Phoenix. A nanny flies with your puppy in the cabin and hands it to you at arrivals. PHX nonstop to JFK, EWR or LGA.
- Fly in and fly home together. An 8lb puppy is carry-on. Fly into Phoenix, meet us, and fly home with your puppy under the seat in front of you.
- Meet us in Arizona. If you are driving through or making a trip of it, we meet you at a public place we agree on. We run a closed kennel to protect the puppies, so meetups happen there rather than at the house.
Whichever way, your puppy travels with a person, never as cargo, and the cost is quoted for your address.

Keeping a Shih Tzu in New York
An 8lb Shih Tzu in a Manhattan apartment is about as good a fit as a dog and a home can be. They do not need a yard, they do not bark at every door in the corridor if you teach them not to, and a walk round the block is a real outing. The two things to get right are heat in a July sidewalk and salt in a February one: pavement is hotter than the air and rock salt burns pads, so boots or a wipe-down in winter. Long Island and Westchester have the yards; the city has the groomers.
Shih Tzu breeders in New York
New York searches for Shih Tzu breeders tend to be about the city, and there are few breeders inside it because there is nowhere to raise a litter. I raise mine in a house in Sedona with a garden, and I will meet you in Phoenix with the puppy. It is a long way, and for a dog you will have for fifteen years I think it is the right way round.
Whether you are in New York City, Long Island, Westchester, Buffalo, Rochester, Albany or anywhere else in New York, the route is the same one and the offer is the same: the puppies available now, and a straight answer to anything you ask.
