From Sedona, Arizona to Ohio
Shih Tzu Puppies for Sale in Ohio
Ohio is the one state where I tell people to ignore the biggest airport and use the closest. Three of its cities take a nonstop from Phoenix within twenty minutes of each other in flight time, so there is nothing whatsoever to be gained by driving past one to reach another. Pick the one nearest your front door and we will work backwards from there.
Ohio has more searches for Shih Tzu puppies than most states twice its size, and all three of its big airports have nonstops from Phoenix: Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati are each around three hours forty. Dayton and Toledo connect once.
How your puppy travels to Ohio
Fly to Phoenix, meet me and the puppy, and fly back the same day with it in a carrier under the seat. A three-and-a-half-hour flight is a nap for an 8lb puppy. If travelling is not possible, a flight nanny takes the same nonstop and hands the puppy to you at the gate. I do not send puppies as cargo, to Ohio or anywhere.
Not sure which way suits you? Tell me where you are and I will tell you what I would do.
Getting a puppy to Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati and the rest of Ohio
Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati each have their own nonstop from Phoenix, which is unusual and is exactly why I tell Ohio families to use the nearest rather than the biggest. Akron is forty minutes from Cleveland and Dayton is about an hour from Cincinnati, so both are covered without a connection. Toledo is the odd one out, being closer to Detroit than to anything in Ohio, so that is usually the better flight.
Keeping a Shih Tzu in Ohio
Ohio is four real seasons and this breed manages all of them, as long as you respect the two extremes. In a humid August the flat face works against them, so walks are early and the house is cool. In January the coat does its job and the risk is salt rather than cold. What Ohio has plenty of is the ordinary suburban life a Shih Tzu was bred for: a sofa, a short walk, and people home.
Shih Tzu breeders in Ohio
Ohio has a great many places selling Shih Tzu puppies and I am not going to tell you anything about any of them. I will tell you about mine: born in my house in Sedona, six of them, small adults of about 8lb, met in person before any money changes hands. That is the whole offer.
Whether you are in Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Dayton, Toledo, Akron or anywhere else in Ohio, the route is the same one and the offer is the same: the puppies available now, and a straight answer to anything you ask.
Buying a Shih Tzu puppy in Ohio: your questions
Do you sell Shih Tzu puppies to Ohio families?
Ohio searches for this breed harder than states twice its size, and it is unusually well served: three nonstops from Phoenix, all about three hours forty. Fly out, meet me and the puppy, fly home the same day with it under the seat. A three and a half hour flight is a nap to an eight pound puppy. If you cannot travel, a nanny takes the same flight and hands it to you at the gate. I do not send puppies as cargo, to Ohio or anywhere else.
Columbus, Cleveland or Cincinnati?
Whichever you can get to without a second thought. They are within twenty minutes of each other in flight time from Phoenix, so the deciding factor is your drive at the Ohio end, not anything happening at mine. If you are in Dayton or Toledo you will connect once, which is perfectly fine with a puppy in the cabin, or a nanny can bring it into the nearest of the three and save you the second boarding.
What is a Shih Tzu like to live with in Ohio?
Four real seasons and the breed manages all of them, so long as you respect the two ends. A humid August works against a flat face, so walks go early and the house stays cool. January is not about cold, it is about salt on the pads. What Ohio has a great deal of is the ordinary suburban life this dog was actually bred for: a sofa, a short walk and somebody home.
How much does a Shih Tzu puppy cost in Ohio?
$700 for a boy and $750 for a girl. There are a great many places in Ohio selling Shih Tzu puppies and I am not going to tell you a thing about any of them. I will tell you about mine: born in my house in Sedona, small adults of about eight pounds, photographed individually, and met in person before any money changes hands. That is the whole offer. The first-year numbers.
