Our puppies are $700 for a boy and $750 for a girl. Here is what that includes, and what to budget for the first year.

Shih Tzu puppies under $800
Yes. If you have been searching for Shih Tzu puppies for sale under $800, ours are exactly that: both of our prices sit under $800, and that is the whole price: no deposit, no application fee, and nothing added for colour or for choosing a particular puppy. Travel, if your puppy is coming to you, is the only thing quoted separately.

Every one of our puppies is born and raised in our home, wormed and vaccinated at the right ages, examined by our vet, fed a small-breed puppy food, handled and loved every day, started on house training, and sent home with its health documents, food, blanket, toys, treats, pee pads, collar and lead, a care guide and a one-year health guarantee. What the first year costs you
This is the number to be sure about before the purchase price, because it is bigger and it repeats.

Call it $1,800 to $3,400 for the first twelve months, and $1,200 to $2,500 a year after that. A Shih Tzu lives a long time, so across a life the purchase price is a small fraction of what the dog costs. Somebody agonising over a few hundred dollars at the front while not having looked at the grooming line is worrying about the wrong number.
Grooming is the line people miss
It is the biggest recurring cost of this breed and the one nobody budgets for. A Shih Tzu coat grows continuously and it mats if it is not brushed, so the dog needs a professional groom every six to eight weeks for its whole life, at sixty to a hundred dollars a time depending on where you live, or you learn to clip it yourself. Neither is optional. A matted Shih Tzu is an uncomfortable dog, and the fix is a shave.
Two minutes a day with a brush from the first week is what keeps that bill at the low end rather than the high end. The coat, from day one.
