Shih Tzu Breeders With Puppies for Sale
A home kennel in Sedona, Arizona, and the questions worth asking any Shih Tzu breeder.
Royal Silk Shih Tzus is a home kennel in Sedona, Arizona, about two hours north of Phoenix, raising purebred Shih Tzus and nothing else. Every puppy is born in my house, seen by my vet before going home, and goes home with a written contract and a one-year health guarantee.
My adults are small, about 8 pounds when fully grown. That is a little under the breed standard, but they are not teacups or imperials, and I do not breed for tiny size or promise it. What I care about is a sound, happy little dog with the sweet, soft temperament the breed is loved for. More about Royal Silk.

Questions to Ask a Breeder
What to Ask Any Shih Tzu Breeder, and My Answers
Choosing a breeder is mostly a matter of asking plain questions and getting plain answers. These are the ones that matter for a Shih Tzu puppy, with how it works here.
If you have a question that is not on the list, ask me.
Where do the puppies grow up?
In my home in Sedona. Every litter is born in the house and stays with its mother through the first weeks; once the puppies are weaned they move into a clean indoor pen of their own, with their beds, their bowls and the start of house training.
Can I see where they are raised?
I run a closed kennel, so nobody visits the house. Until a puppy has finished its vaccinations its immune system is still developing, and visitors can carry germs in on their shoes and clothes without knowing it. We meet at a public place we agree on together, and each puppy's profile has its photo and details.
What vet care comes with a puppy?
Every puppy is examined by my vet before going home, and has the core vaccinations and worming given at the age that is right for each. The written record with every date goes home with the puppy, so your own vet can see what is due next.
Is there a written contract and a guarantee?
Yes. Every puppy goes home with a written puppy contract, and the contract includes a one-year health guarantee.
How big will the puppy grow?
My adults are about 8 pounds fully grown: a little under the 9 to 16 pound breed standard, but not teacup or imperial. I do not breed for tiny size or promise it. How big Shih Tzus get.
Are they purebred?
Yes. Royal Silk is Shih Tzus only, with no crosses or mixes of any kind.
Is there an application, a deposit or a waitlist?
No. You write to me, we talk about whether the puppy suits your home, you pay, and you collect your puppy or it travels to you.
How will the puppy get to me?
Three ways: meet me at an agreed public place in Arizona, ground transport driven the whole way to your door, or a flight nanny who carries your puppy in the cabin and hands it to you at your airport. Never cargo. How puppies get home.
What happens after the puppy goes home?
You can email me for help for as long as you have your dog, with house training, feeding, the coat or anything else.
Questions About Royal Silk as a Breeder
01Are you a Shih Tzu breeder near me?
If you are in Arizona, yes: I am in Sedona, Arizona, about 1 hour 50 minutes from Phoenix and 1 hour from Flagstaff, and we can meet in person. Anywhere else in the United States, a puppy travels to you with a flight nanny or by ground transport. Find your state.
02How do I get one of your puppies?
Choose a puppy from the available puppies and send me a message through the contact form. If nothing suits right now, tell me what you are hoping for.
03What paperwork comes with a puppy?
The vaccination and worming record with every date on it, the vet check, and the written puppy contract with the one-year health guarantee, plus a puppy care guide.
04What is a home kennel?
A kennel where the dogs live in the house with the breeder rather than in a separate building. Royal Silk is a home kennel: the puppies are born and raised in my house.
